Glass-Fibre Reinforced PP Disc Supports for Filtration Vessels
Skytech Ultrafab PPGF Circular Discs are precision-injection-moulded polypropylene glass-fibre composite discs used as filter media support plates, retaining rings, and closure discs in bag filter housings, cartridge filter vessels, and pressure filtration equipment. The glass-fibre reinforcement provides rigidity under operating pressure that standard PP alone cannot deliver — preventing disc deflection that would allow filter media bypass in liquid filtration systems.
What Is a PPGF Circular Disc?
A PPGF (Polypropylene Glass Fibre) Circular Disc is a rigid moulded plastic disc manufactured from polypropylene compounded with 20–40% chopped glass fibre reinforcement. The glass fibre dramatically increases the flexural modulus of the PP matrix, making the disc significantly stiffer and more dimensionally stable under hydraulic pressure loads than unfilled PP. In filter housings, these discs serve as support grids, basket bottoms, and retaining plates that hold filter media in position under process pressure without deflecting or allowing bypass.

Features and Benefits
-
Glass-Fibre Reinforced Rigidity:
20–40% GF reinforcement increases flexural strength 3–5× compared to unfilled PP — maintains disc flatness under hydraulic pressure loads that would deflect standard PP discs
-
Chemical Resistance:
Polypropylene matrix resists acids, alkalis, and solvents across pH 1–13 — suitable for the full range of liquid filtration process chemistries without disc swelling or dissolution
-
Precision Moulded Geometry:
Injection-moulded to tight dimensional tolerances — disc OD, ID, and thickness controlled to ensure correct fitment in filter housings and vessels without gapping or bypass
-
Perforated or Slotted Face:
Support disc face available in perforated (round holes) or slotted (elongated apertures) configurations — aperture size selected to support the filter media without blocking flow
-
Temperature Resistance:
PPGF withstands continuous service temperatures to 90°C — suitable for hot chemical filtration, warm cleaning solutions, and warm process fluid service without disc deformation
-
Multiple Sizes:
Standard sizes matching all P1 and P2 bag filter housing specifications; custom OD and ID available for non-standard vessels and process equipment filter positions

Applications
-
Bag Filter Housings:
Support disc at the bottom of single and multi-bag filter housings — prevents bag collapse onto housing bottom and provides uniform filtrate drainage across the bag base
-
Cartridge Filter Vessels:
Retaining disc above and below cartridge elements in vertical filter vessels — positions cartridges correctly and provides mechanical end-stop under flow conditions
-
Pressure Filtration Equipment:
Media support and retaining plates in leaf filters, plate filters, and custom pressure filtration vessels in chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing
-
Strainer Assemblies:
Basket bottom support discs in industrial strainer pots and Y-strainers — supports the strainer screen under high-flow conditions without deflection
-
Custom Filter Vessels:
Media retaining and sealing discs in custom-designed filtration vessels in pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and specialty chemical industries
Why Choose Skytech Ultrafab for PPGF Circular Disc?
-
Pressure-Rated Rigidity:
GF reinforcement provides the stiffness to span the filter housing bore under operating pressure without deflecting — critical for preventing media bypass at the housing bottom
-
Chemical Compatibility Matched:
PP matrix resists the chemical environment of the filter housing — no swelling, softening, or extractable leaching into filtered liquid
-
Custom OD/ID Available:
Non-standard disc dimensions for custom filter vessels produced in 10–14 working days from drawing — no standard catalogue limitation on disc geometry
-
Complete Housing Supply:
Order PPGF discs together with Skytech filter bags, NMO bags, and filter housings — complete filtration assembly from a single source
-
Competitive Pricing:
Injection-moulded PPGF discs at direct manufacturer pricing — significantly more economical than imported equivalent filter housing components
