What Is a Gasket Filter Press Cloth?

A Gasket Filter Press Cloth is a filter cloth with a compressible sealing element — typically EPDM, silicone, neoprene, or Viton rubber — permanently attached around the cloth perimeter. When the filter press closes, the plate face compresses the gasket material, creating a positive seal that prevents slurry or filtrate from bypassing around the cloth edge. This differs from standard non-gasketed cloths that rely on plate-face clamping load alone, which can allow bypass in worn or misaligned press frames.
