What Is a Silicone Rubber Cord?

A Silicone Rubber Cord is a continuous extrusion of silicone elastomer in a consistent cross-sectional profile — most commonly circular in cross-section, either solid or hollow. In sealing applications, the cord is cut to length and formed into a ring or frame seal by vulcanising or bonding the cut ends together, or by installing it in a groove where its cross-section is compressed by the mating surface to create a seal. Hollow cord compresses at lower force than solid cord — useful where the mating surfaces exert only light clamping pressure.
